Strike action in the core public service
Dear colleagues,
Employees of some federal government departments and agencies represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) are beginning strike action today, April 19.
I would like to remind everyone that Parks Canada remains actively engaged in the collective bargaining process and that our employees are currently not in a legal strike position.
Employees outside Parks Canada who are in a legal strike position have the right to participate in strike activity. Therefore, please be prepared for potential strike activities, such as picket lines, occurring around or near premises occupied by Parks Canada. Should you encounter interference due to picket line activities while entering or leaving your assigned work location and are concerned over your personal safety, please contact your manager.
Parks Canada employees are reminded to report to work as scheduled and be present at their prescribed time and place of work unless otherwise excused or directed. To ease access to the workplace, employees should always have their valid Parks Canada identification card. We also ask employees to be patient in accessing workplaces in case of disruption and to collaborate with other departments, building management, or law enforcement, as the case may be.
We understand that strike activities can be stressful for some employees, whether they are directly involved or not.
