Merrickville Weir Rehabilitation

Smiths Falls, Ontario, October 2, 2015 - Parks Canada is undertaking rehabilitation work on the Merrickville Weir in the municipality of Merrickville-Wolford. This project will involve rehabilitating the concrete on the pier and abutments of the Weir which have experienced deterioration downstream of the stoplogs and gate.

The contractor, Lariviere Construction Ontario Ltd, will begin mobilizing on site on October 5. Construction is expected to begin on October 19, following the closure of the navigation season and the achievement of normal winter levels. Rehabilitation work is anticipated to take 8 weeks.

No impacts to vehicular or pedestrian traffic are expected during construction.
