Info-Work: Road Reopened

Smiths Falls, Ontario, December 20, 2017 – County Road 14 at Narrows Swing Bridge is now open after a brief closure for abutment repairs.

On Monday, December 18th, County Road 14 at Narrows Lock was closed for repairs to the swing bridge abutments after an issue was reported by the contractor repairing the lock. As directed by Parks Canada and Public Services and Procurement Canada engineers, the contractor drilled core holes into the abutment and used flowable fill, a concrete-like material, for repairs. Working as efficiently as possible, these repairs were completed on Wednesday, December 20th and the road was reopened the same day, in advance of the holidays.
