Temporary Closure: Hamlet Swing Bridge
Issued: November 22, 2024
Ends: November 28, 2024
NOVEMBER 22, 2024 - PETERBOROUGH, ON – Parks Canada is advising the public of a temporary closure of the Hamlet Swing Bridge for essential maintenance. This work will involve the removal and repair of hydraulic cylinders to ensure the bridge’s continued safety and functionality.
The closure is planned for Tuesday, November 26, 2024, and is scheduled to last up to 4 hours to allow for safe completion of work. The closure will occur between the morning and evening peak traffic periods to minimize the impact on local traffic. During this time, the alternative crossing is via Highway 11, as detailed in the attached map. Detour signage will be in place and travellers are advised to plan accordingly.
Please Note: The rail line to the west of the bridge may intermittently restrict vehicle access in the case of rail traffic. Parks Canada expects minimal impact due to the short duration of the closure, but travellers should remain mindful of the potential for delays.
Parks Canada thanks the community for its patience and understanding as we work to maintain safe and reliable infrastructure along the Trent-Severn Waterway.
