Motorists are asked to plan their routes accordingly. The temporary closure will not impact boat traffic.

September 2 - Parks Canada would like to advise that the Hamlet Bridge on the Severn River will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic on the evening of Thursday September 2nd, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to midnight, to repair a swing cylinder. Motorists are asked to plan their routes accordingly. The temporary closure will not impact boat traffic.

As part of the historic investment program along the Trent-Severn Waterway, between winter 2019 and early 2020, Parks Canada replaced both the fixed and swing portions of the Hamlet Bridge on the Severn River. The work included the replacement of the road abutments, the east pier, mechanical and electrical systems, and the bridge operator’s building. This road closure is to repair a deficiency in that work, under warranty.
