Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site

Guided tour of Grosse-Île

In addition to visiting the essential spots of the quarantine station in the company of a guide, students will benefit from personalized support adapted to the needs of school groups.

After completing a medical inspection with the station staff at the disinfection building, they will discover the different places of interest and sectors of the island on foot and by train, including the Celtic cross, the Irish cemetery, the lazaretto and the village of Saint-Luc-de-la-Grosse-Île.

While exploring the island's past, students will immerse themselves into the history of immigration to Canada and the scientific and medical advances of the time.
