Lake Minnewanka Reservoir Motorized Watercraft Restrictions and Prohibitions

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:

Launching a motorized watercraft at Lake Minnewanka reservoir is a "Restricted Activity". All motorized watercraft must undergo a Parks Canada watercraft inspection, and possess a valid proof of inspection BEFORE launching into Lake Minnewanka reservoir.

The use of motorized watercraft with ballast systems, tanks, and/or bags including after-market additions is prohibited.

WHERE: Lake Minnewanka reservoir.

WHY: To reduce the risk of introducing aquatic invasive species into Lake Minnewanka reservoir.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
