Area closure: Spot closures - Wolverine research

What: Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent: Several small areas in Banff, Kootenay and Yoho National Parks will be closed to prevent park visitors from entering sites where carcasses are present for wolverine research purposes. These areas are not on trails or in areas heavily visited by the public. Closed areas will be clearly marked.
Where: Several small areas in Banff, Yoho and Kootenay National Parks.
Why: To ensure public safety and prevent animal disturbance where carcasses and camera traps are present.
Penalty: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
