What: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent: Use or possess VHF radio receiver equipment to follow or search for wildlife with radio transmitters.

Where: Banff National Park, Kootenay National Park and Yoho National Park.

Why: To prevent disturbance, harassment and habituation of wildlife that carry radio transmitters for park management purposes.

Penalty: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
