Waterton Lakes National Park

Belly River Campground is closed for the season.

2025 camping reservations will be available via the Parks Canada Reservation System on Wednesday, January 22 at 8:00 a.m. MT.

Townsite Campground

Operating season May 1 to October 13, 2025 (weather permitting)

Reservations available:

  • May 9 through September 10

Offseason operation: September 24, 2024 to April 1, 2025*

First come, first served camping. Self-registration in effect. Electrical-only and unserviced sites available. B loop is closed September 23. No washroom, shower services after October 14.

* Winter access is weather dependent. Campground is not cleared of snow and is inaccessible for most of winter. Limited winter camping is available at Pass Creek Day Use Area (unserviced, self registration).

Belly River Campground

Operating dates: May 16 through September 1, 2025

Campsites at Belly River Campground are available on a first-come, first-served basis only. We do not take reservations for this campground.

During peak season (July and August), the campground tends to fill quickly and is usually full for the night by early afternoon.

Group camping

Group camping is available at Belly River Campground. This camping area is for groups of 25 or more.

Backcountry camping

There are nine backcountry campgrounds in Waterton Lakes National Park.

Operating dates: Year round

Reservable dates:

  • May 16 through October 13, 2025: Boundary Bay, Bertha Bay, Crandell Lake
  • June 20 through October 13, 2025: Goat Lake, Snowshoe, Twin Lakes, Lone Lake, Alderson Lake, Bertha Lake

Backcountry reservations available via Parks Canada Reservation System starting Wednesday, January 22 at 8:00 a.m. MT
