Monitoring fish species and aquatic environments

Nááts'įhch'oh National Park Reserve

Parks Canada monitors fish populations as well as the health of their aquatic habitats. Staff conduct minnow trapping and netting exercises in various locations in an effort to better understand species distributions in different waterways around the park. Measuring stream channel characteristics, identifying aquatic invertebrates, and monitoring water quality and temperature also help to provide more information on the quality of fish habitats over time.
