Auyuittuq National Park

Auyuittuq National Park represents the Northern Davis Natural Region. This natural region is one of mountainous terrain, long fiords, ice caps, glaciers and marine fauna. The region includes the northern extremity of the Canadian Shield and shoreline along Davis Strait.

Climate

The complex polar marine climate of the Cumberland Peninsula creates variable weather throughout the park. High winds and blizzard conditions are common.

Ecosystems and habitats

Auyuittuq’s High Arctic and Low Arctic vegetation zones include tundra, freshwater, coastal and glacial ecosystems.
