Restricted activity order: Fort Conger

Issued: March 18, 2022

Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following activities are hereby restricted by order of the Nunavut Field Unit Superintendent: entry into, use of and travel within Fort Conger without Parks Canada staff.

All park visitors (including Inuit who access Fort Conger by motorized means) must be accompanied by a Parks Canada staff member.

Where: Fort Conger, including the landing site.

When: Year-round.

Why: The Fort Conger site has been identified as an area whose features are vulnerable to human disturbance. As such, the site has been designated as a Zone 1: Special Preservation Area.

Persons contravening this closure may be subject to prosecution under the Canada National Parks Act; maximum fine $100,000.
