Distribution and habitat

In Canada, Snapping turtles can be found from Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia. In Ontario, Snapping turtles are found mainly in the southern part of the province. 

This species lives in and around the water in wetland areas. In the spring, female Snapping turtles will leave their habitats in search of a suitable nesting site.
