Parks Canada oTENTik

A cross between a tent and a rustic cabin, Parks Canada oTENTik is a relaxing, easier way to experience camping. The oTENTik accommodations on park islands provide an ideal base camp and private retreat for paddlers exploring the Thousand Islands, or some extra living space for boaters who want to share a getaway with friends and family.

Thousand Islands National Park offers ten Parks Canada oTENTik camping accommodations. 

• Three oTENTik accommodations are available on McDonald Island.
• Two oTENTik accommodations are available on Gordon Island.
• Five oTENTik accommodations on the mainland at Mallorytown Landing.

At Mallorytown Landing, campers can try out an oTENTik accommodation in a riverside, drive-up location. With just the right mix of comfort and simplicity, Parks Canada oTENTik will make you feel right at home, but far away from the everyday.

Equipment provided

oTENTik accommodations makes camping fun and comfortable.

Inside each tent:

• Sleeping area for up to 6 people
• A table and seating for 6 people
• Solar powered lighting and cell phone charging station (bring your own car charging adapter)
• Fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
• Broom and dustpan
• Please note: there is no plumbing or running water in the tents

On each campsite:

• Tent with front deck
• Fire pit
• Picnic table
• Muskoka chairs
• Charcoal barbecue and food preparation station (charcoal and tools not provided)

Nearby:

• A large picnic shelter
• Washrooms (Mallorytown Landing) and composting toilets (all locations)
• Potable water nearby (Mallorytown Landing) 
  Firewood for purchase (firewood cannot be moved into or out of the park)

What to bring

• Drinking water (for island oTENTiks) 
• Cooking equipment, dishes, eating utensils and a cooler
• Slippers or indoor shoes

• Car charging adapter for the charging system

A few rules

In addition to the national park’s camping regulations, Parks Canada oTENTik users must follow a few additional rules:

• For your safety, no food preparation, food or drink storage, or cooking is allowed inside the oTENTiks. Please store all food and related items in the food storage locker provided.
• Smoking is not permitted within the oTENTiks.
• Pets are not allowed in the oTENTiks, with the exception of oTENTiks 3B and 3E at Mallorytown Landing.  
• To protect our forests from the Emerald Ash Borer, all firewood MUST be purchased in the park. Firewood cannot be moved into or out of the park. Collecting firewood from the forest is prohibited.

Important notices

• Access to the islands is by boat only and campers must arrange their own transportation. See How to Get There and Missing the Boat?
• All vessels must have a valid mooring or beaching permit. These permits are NOT included with oTENTik fees on the Islands  and must be purchased on arrival at the island. See our park fees page for a full list of fees.
• Mainland oTENTiks at Mallorytown Landing are accessible by vehicle and include a parking permit for one vehicle.
• Self check-in on arrival. Obtain a use permit at a payment kiosk located on the islands and at Mallorytown Landing and post at oTENTik site with either surname or reservation number clearly identified.
• To protect our forests from the Emerald Ash Borer, all firewood MUST be purchased in the park. Firewood cannot be moved into or out of the park. Collecting firewood from the forest is prohibited.
• With the exception of Central Grenadier, potable water is NOT available on park islands.
• Check-in 3 p.m. Check-out 11 a.m.
