Info-Work: Glen Ross Swing Bridge and Lock 7 Rehabilitation
Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site
Peterborough, Ontario, May 17, 2018 – Significant work to rehabilitate Glen Ross Lock 7 and Swing Bridge has been undertaken over the winter months. The project includes the concrete repair of lock walls and sluice tunnels, upgraded lock valves, as well as structural and mechanical repairs and repainting of the swing bridge. While the contractor is working to complete the project as quickly as possible, be advised of the following changes to service at Glen Ross Lock 7 for the 2018 season:
May 17th to July 2018
For your safety, until July 2018, the following conditions at Glen Ross Lock 7 are in effect as contractors continue onsite construction work:
- Overnight mooring will be provided on the downstream side only;
- The lock grounds and washroom facilities will be closed to the public; and,
- The temporary pedestrian bridge across the canal will be removed prior to navigation. Pedestrians retrieving their mail are asked to access the site via a path that will be marked for your use, and cross over the lock gate only.
Glen Ross Lock 7 is scheduled to open for navigation with the rest of the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site on May 18th. The Glen Ross Swing Bridge will be in the open position and boat traffic will be able to pass through the lock and canal.
