Rideau Canal National Historic Site
The Davis Lock is known as a “solitude lock,” being one of the more remote locks on the Rideau. One of the features of this site is an 1842 lockmaster’s house that was fully restored in 1999. Davis offers a quiet place to camp or moor overnight, and power is available on the upstream side.

History
Davis lockstation is situated 7 km (4.3 miles) upstream from Jones Falls and, prior to construction, was the location of a sawmill established by William Davis Jr. in about 1818-1820. Similar to several other mill sites along the Rideau, Davis' mill was bought out by Colonel By and destroyed by the construction of the canal.
