New collective agreement signed and now in effect
Good afternoon,
I am pleased to inform you that Parks Canada and the Public Service Alliance of Canada officially signed a new collective agreement on September 26, 2023.
The agreement addresses all key priorities put forward by both parties. Specifically, the new agreement:
- Provides wage increases and adjustments that close the gap with inflation.
- Provides occupational group-specific allowances increases.
- Improves the language on job security.
- Enables a thorough review of the working conditions for Park wardens.
- Protects employees’ rights around remote work arrangements.
- Introduces two days of paid leave and three days of unpaid leave for Indigenous employees to engage in traditional practices.
In alignment with the core public administration, Parks Canada employees who were PSAC members on the date of signing of the collective agreement will receive a $2,500 lump-sum payment. Negotiated timelines specify that Parks Canada has 180 days from the date of signing to implement the provisions of the collective agreement, including retroactive pay.
