Announcement - External Relations and Visitor Experience Directorate

I would like to share with you changes to the PCX community within the External Relations and Visitor Experience Directorate, taking effect today.

Appointment of Lesia Manchulenko, Executive Director, External Relations and Communications

Lesia joined Parks Canada as Director, National Communications, in the fall of 2020. Having served in a number of leadership roles with Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Health Canada, she has a strong background in communications and policy. Lesia played a key role in supporting historic initiatives, such as the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, the Prime Minister’s acceptance of and commitment to implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, and the transformation of the former Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada into two new departments with distinct mandates to better serve Indigenous People.

Lesia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Carleton University as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from McMaster University.

Deployment of Louis Lavoie, Executive Director, Visitor Experience and Market Development

Louis began his career in the public service in 1997, at Industry Canada, before joining the Parks Canada team in 2003. Since then, he has worked in various roles: Manager of Internet Policy and Operations, Senior Business Analyst at the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Senior Advisor to the Agency’s Chief Executive Office, Manager of the Office of the Vice-President of External Relations and Visitor Experience, Senior Advisor for Private Sector and Community Engagement at Rouge National Urban Park and finally as Field Unit Superintendent for Southwestern Ontario as well as Field Unit Superintendent for Quebec.

Louis has a Bachelor's degree in Consumer Sciences from Laval University and a certificate in computer programming from Algonquin College.
