Performance management : 2024-2025 Beginning of cycle

Good day colleagues,

As we begin a new year filled with opportunities and challenges, I am pleased to announce the official launch of the 2024-2025 Performance management cycle for employees. The beginning of the cycle is a perfect opportunity to develop work objectives, clarify expectations and discuss learning needs.

All performance agreements as well as learning plans must be recorded in the Public Service Performance Management (PSPM) application by June 30, 2024.

Here are the steps to follow to start the cycle on the right foot:

Managers:

  • Develop work objectives for your team members.
  • Review the core competencies so that you can explain their importance to your team members in terms of their work and expected behaviours.
  • Discuss the learning and development needs as well as opportunities available to your team members and record the agreed upon activities in the Learning Plan.
  • Have conversations with your employees and ensure they understand the expected results, timelines, and behaviours.
  • Record this in the PSPM application, sign the performance agreements and have your employees do the same.

Employees:

  • Review your previous performance assessment and take note of opportunities for improvement or development.
  • Reflect on your learning and development needs. Be prepared to discuss them with your manager/supervisor.
  • Ensure that you have a clear understanding of your new performance expectations, including your work objectives and the core competencies. Ask for clarification, as necessary.
  • Document and sign your new performance agreement in the PSPM application.

Seasonal employees

It is possible that the established deadlines do not apply to your employment period. However, the Performance Agreement must be established as soon as possible. Please consult the seasonal employees ParksNet page for more information.

The Performance and talent management page on ParksNet offers many resources and tools to help you through each step of this process.
