Parks Canada Directives on Terms and Conditions of Employment
Hello to all,
I am pleased to announce the modernized Terms and Conditions of Employment Directives effective June 1, 2024:
- Parks Canada Directive on Terms and Conditions of Employment
- Parks Canada Directive on Leave and Special Working Arrangements
- Parks Canada Directive on Terms and Conditions of Employment for Certain Excluded and Unrepresented Groups and Levels
The implementation of these Directives marks an important moment for our Agency. Since 2002, Parks Canada has applied the Treasury Board Terms and Conditions of Employment. For the first time in our history, we now have our own Terms and Conditions of Employment suite that is crafted for our organization and reflective of the unique operational realities and legislative authorities of Parks Canada.
Key highlights of updates include:
- Streamlining of directives suite from six (6) instruments into three (3) Directives will contribute to simplification of compensation and benefits administration.
- Directives now reflect the legislative authorities and position classifications of Parks Canada.
- Leave with income averaging can now be taken in two periods for those meeting eligibility requirements.
- Situations of multiple seasonal indeterminate appointments are directly addressed within Directives to clarify administration of this employment scenario.
- All employees occupying PM06 positions will now be eligible to receive overtime compensation as applicable.
These directives will ensure sound, consistent and effective practices with respect to administration of terms and conditions of employment in Parks Canada. For employees subject to the Parks Canada Agency Collective Agreement, should there be any incompatibility or conflict, the provisions of the collective agreement shall apply.
