Announcement – Operations Directorate

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the following changes to the PCX community within the Operations Directorate, effective September 26, 2024.

 

David Ebert, Field Unit Superintendent, Manitoba

David joined Parks Canada in 2009 as Manager, Cultural Resources at the preexisting Western and Northern Service Center. Prior to joining Parks Canada, he worked for the Government of Saskatchewan as the Provincial Archaeologist, and at the Universities of Saskatchewan, Winnipeg and Manitoba as a professor of Archaeology. David accepted his first executive role in May 2021 when he became the Field Unit Superintendent, Western Arctic.

David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Archaeology from the University of Saskatchewan, a Master of Science in Archaeology Computing from the University of Southampton as well as a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Manitoba.

 

Carmen Hancock, Field Unit Superintendent, Waterton Lakes/Bar-U

Carmen began her career in the federal public service at Parks Canada in 2017, as a Visitor Experience Product Development Officer in Happy Valley- Goose BayPrior to joining Parks Canada, she worked for more than ten years in leadership roles in community, social, tourism and private sectors in Labrador. Bringing her strengths and experience in leadership, strategic planning and operations, she has since held several management roles. Carmen has been acting Director, Real Property and Asset Program Strategy since February 2024.

Carmen holds a Diploma of Social Sciences in Criminology from the Academy Canada Career College.
