Reporting on the Call to Action and the renewed conversation on values and ethics

Dear colleagues,

As public servants, we take pride in our commitment to serving Canadians with professionalism, integrity, and excellence. Our effectiveness in this role depends on maintaining a diverse, representative, and inclusive public service that upholds our core values and ethics.

Earlier this year, all federal departments and agencies were asked by the Clerk of the Privy Council to assess their progress on implementing the Call to Action on Anti-Racism, Equity, and Inclusion and on the efforts to broaden the renewed conversation on values and ethics. These reports are essential to maintaining the trust and confidence of our team members and those we serve.

To support a collective understanding of the progress made across the public service, the responses from each submitting department and agency, including those from Parks Canada, have been published on the Privy Council Office website.

I encourage you all to read the responses and the reports and to reflect on how each of us may continue implementing the core values of our Values and Ethics Code.

In addition, I am excited to announce that we have developed a new virtual workshop called “Living Our Values”. This engaging workshop will be available to all Parks Canada members. It will provide guidance on behaviours and actions that bring out the best in each of us, helping us become the diverse, inclusive, and welcoming organization we aspire to be.

To continue advancing this important work, the Clerk of the Privy Council will host an event this fall to discuss Values and Ethics in the Public Service. This will be a not to be missed event for all public servants. Stay tuned for more information to be communicated in the coming weeks.

As we move forward together, let’s continue to embrace the core values that collectively guide us and make us stronger as an organization.
